A good business system should never make the business bend to fit it.

HKAIA is not just another off-the-shelf cloud package. It began with a business system that our founder, Jonathan Choi, used in his own business and came to trust.

    From his own business.

    In 2016, Jonathan and his business partner founded the cosmetics brand re:sea and took it to mainland China, Japan and overseas markets.

    As the business got going, he needed a system that truly matched the way the brand worked. So a Japanese software developer designed an enterprise management system for the brand, built around its own business processes.

    Every owner knows the feeling: a business bending to fit the functions of its software.

    This system fitted the way the business actually ran, so processes felt natural and work flowed. For Jonathan, with more than 25 years in IT, that experience stayed with him.

  3. 2026

    From experience to platform.

    In early 2026, Jonathan came back to the system and found it had evolved dramatically.

    Today it can be configured, developed and flexibly deployed for the real needs of different trades and SMEs, and it suits SMEs that want to build up their own digital, automated workflows step by step.

  4. Brought to Hong Kong.

    Jonathan believed that this flexibility and practicality were exactly what Hong Kong's SMEs needed: a system that starts from the way a business already works and is set up trade by trade, instead of forcing every company into the same mould.

    So he obtained a licence from the Japanese company, brought the platform to Hong Kong and founded HKAIA.

    The core of the system is continuously developed and updated by the team in Japan. In Hong Kong, HKAIA's team, with more than 25 years of IT experience, takes care of local customer enquiries, technical support, after-sales follow-up, network set-up and information security.

Scattered tools cost growth.

Small and mid-sized businesses in Hong Kong run on scattered tools: paper, business cards, spreadsheets, chat apps, email and files in different places. Information gets lost, follow-ups are missed, and owners spend evenings on admin instead of growing the business.

Generic software is either too complex or does not fit how a specific trade works.

Jonathan Choi has worked in IT since 1995. He started on the help desk at HMV, looking after tills and networks, and went on to run retail systems for some of Asia Pacific's best-known groups: LVMH, adidas, Estée Lauder, A.S. Watson and Fossil.

Along the way he set up ERP systems for luxury houses such as Celine, Fendi and Loewe, rolled out 260 kiosks, supported 310 stores a day, opened stores across the region and trained teams in ten countries. Today he looks after business applications for ten luxury car brands at Sime Darby Motor.

He has kept learning: an MBA, then courses in blockchain, e-commerce, digital media, generative AI and AI agents. Outside work he gives his time to the community, including a year as Divisional President in the Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Brigade.
